Deaf Expression provides sign language interpreters for the deaf
We work with the public to schedule interpreting services for deaf individuals, hearing customers, deaf students and deaf employees. We have hundreds of clients who rely on us routinely for these services.
While it is true that interpreting is the bulk of what we do, we have always been a source of information for questions about issues and situations that come up regarding communication with the Deaf. We have spent countless hours over the years educating and assisting hearing customers about their responsibilities and offering assistance and information about scheduling and using interpreters to maximize the success of each experience.

Why Provide An Interpreter?
Sign language interpreters provide accessibility for Americans who are Deaf. Foreign language interpreters interpret for those who have not yet learned English. While learning English is a choice which would eliminate the need for an interpreter for foreign speaking individuals, Deaf individuals do not enjoy such options. Sign language interpreters are a vital and major part of most Deaf individuals' lives. Learn More
No Thanks, I'll Just Use Paper And Pencil
That doesn't work, because the average Deaf person graduating from a school for the Deaf, typically has the English skills of a grade schooler. American Sign Language (ASL) is the first and primary language taught to Deaf students. Since this language is not a spoken or written language, it looks very different on paper and creates the real probability for miscommunication. Learn More
Who is Going To Pay?!

What If I Don't Secure An Interpreter?
We are your assurance of compliance. If there is ever a question as to how effective the communication is or was, how are you going to prove it? Serious consequences can result in the absence of accurate and effective communication. We have seen tragic situations that could have been avoided if an interpreter had been called in. Learn More
Some Interpreting Assignments Require Two Interpreters
But...If I Pay A Two Hour Minimum, Why Can't One Interpreter Work For The Full Two Hours ? Repetitive motion injuries plague sign language interpreters. As you watch an interpreter, think about how exhausting it is to move hands, shoulders and arms the way they do. More than an hour of steady or intense interpreting puts the interpreter's health at risk. Often times, interpreters have shortened careers because of repeated injuries. Learn More
